The newly launched Call of Duty Mobile has become the biggest game in just the first week. Crossing more than 100 million downloads in just one week, it has surpassed PUBG Mobile and Fortnite (Mobile) when they were first launched. Call of Duty Mobile has smashed the competition in the first week and even earned over 17 million in just the first week.
Earlier this month, a new record was set by Nintendo's Mario Kart Tour, which garnered over 90 million downloads in the first week. This record however, was rather short lived as Call of Duty Mobile was launched a week back and gained 100 million downloads. This is a major breakthrough for the company and it seems unlikely that any game coming out will be able to beat this record.
PUBG Mobile and Fortnite (Mobile) were also games that had rather eventful launches. In the first week of its launch, PUBG Mobile gained 28 million downloads while Fortnite garnered a little over 22 million. Had it not been for Fortnite's Epic Games store exclusive launch, the number of downloads could have soared higher.
The massive number of downloads that Call of Duty Mobile gained can be largely linked to the fact that the game has a really long running name and has been around for a really long time. The game is now accessible to more gamers than ever before and that's something that the community is quite happy about.
The game has been developed by Activision, in partnership with Tencent and TIMI studios. Apart from that, the game has the classic Call of Duty feel to it- the same maps and guns are rather nostalgic to say the least.
At any rate, it seems that Call of Duty Mobile is here to stay and will give tough competition to one of the biggest games on mobile- PUBG Mobile. Only time will tell how consistent the user base is in the coming months.
