Amazon India today announced the launch of Amazon Pay UPI, allowing its users to pay instantly from their bank accounts. Amazon Pay UPI had been under testing for quite some time now.
As part of the launch offer, Amazon Pay UPI users can get up to Rs 120 cashback on using the new service. Amazon will automatically detect if you have Amazon Pay UPI enabled. If you do, then you will be given the option to make payments instantly using the new service.
If you don't have an Amazon Pay UPI ID, you will given an option to create one, or use an existing UPI ID if you'd prefer to not use Amazon Pay UPI.
As part of the launch offer, Amazon Pay UPI users can get cashback of up to Rs 120 on using the new service.
Speaking on the launch, Vikas Bansal, Director, Amazon Pay, said, "Through Amazon Pay UPI, we are enabling customers paying through cash and bank accounts to make digital one-step payments for their shopping and other payment needs. We are constantly working towards delivering an awesome experience for our customers and the launch of Amazon Pay UPI is a key milestone in this journey."
The Amazon Pay UPI service is currently available only on Android, although there is no clear reason for this yet.
Apart from making payments for purchases on Amazon.in, users will also be able to send and receive money from other users, allowing them to make money transfers within the Amazon app itself.
Amazon Pay currently supports several services on its platform, ranging from Mobile Recharge, DTH recharge, Google Play gift vouchers, brand vouchers, gift cards and more. You can also use Amazon Pay to make payments on Swiggy with up to Rs 300 cashback offers.
