Here's a list of all the upcoming smartphones in January 2019 in India

The year 2018 was a pretty good year for smartphone manufacturers and consumers alike. Over 40.4 million smartphones were shipped in India by the third quarter of 2018 and that number will surely not hold as the reports for Q4 2018 arrive. In terms of popularity, Xiaomi remained the undisputed king but with more players now tackling the Chinese electronics manufacturer than ever. Surprises like the Asus Zenfone Max Pro series gave consumers more options to choose from while the POCO F1 was a wild card that is making waves till now.

Now as we enter 2019, the smartphone industry in India is gearing up to launch new phones and upgrade the old ones with new iterations. Here are all the upcoming smartphones that are going to be released in India in January 2019.

Honor View 20

The Honor View 20 was announced in December 2018 in China and is expected to arrive in India this month. The View 20 features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2310x1080 pixels) IPS display and is powered by Kirin 980 chipset with an octa-core CPU. The main USP of the View 20 is its 48-megapixel rear snapper which is accompanied by a Time-Of-Flight (TOF) 3D sensor that will assist in depth sensing. On the front, there's a single 25-megapixel camera which is housed under the display giving a punch hold look of the display. There's a fingerprint sensor on the back and the phone draws power from a 4,000 mAh battery.

Nokia 9 PureView

While there is no official confirmation about the release of the much-awaited Nokia flagship phone, there are rumors that it will break cover this month itself. The Nokia 9 PureView will be a flagship phone from the house of HMD Global bringing in the 'PureView' moniker back to their stable once again. The Nokia 9 PureView is a very important phone for the company as it is expected to sport 5 cameras on the back accompanied by a depth-sensing camera. Needless to say, these cameras come with Carl Zeiss optics. More information surrounding the phone will be released as we near its launch.

Redmi Pro 2

Spinning off from Xiaomi, Redmi Pro 2 could be the very first smartphone under an all-new Redmi series. The Redmi Pro 2 is expected to feature a 48-megapixel camera and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675. There's no further information about the phone but since we're just days away from the launch (January 10), we should have more information about the specs soon.

Huawei Y9

The Huawei Y9 was announced in October 2018 and will be making it to India on January 7. It features a 6.5-inch display with a Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Y9 is powered by Kirin 710 chipset with an octa-core CPU and is supported by 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of onboard storage. There's a 16-megapixel rear camera which works in tandem with a 2-megapixel depth sensor while the front of the phone also sports a twin camera setup consisting of a primary 13-megapixel snapper and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for those portrait shots. The Y9 has a fingerprint sensor on the back and comes with 4,000 mAh battery which supports fast charging. The price of the phone is expected to be well under the ₹20,000 mark.
