On December 20, the ZTE spin-off brand, Nubia will be launching it's Red Magic Gaming phone in India. The Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone was released earlier this year in China and after seeing the response from other markets, the phone will soon be launching in India. The phone comes as a direct competitor to other gaming phones such as the Asus ROG phone.

The gaming industry in India has boomed since the launch of free to play multiplayer games. Another factor that has greatly helped this cause is the more powerful phones available at affordable prices and reduction in prices of data plans. ZTE has taken advantage of this factor and is optimistic about the launch and sales of their upcoming gaming smartphone.

The Red Magic phone is a gaming-centric phone by hardware and software design. The phone packs a punch with the powerful Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. The phone even has an RGB light strip at the back, to announce it's gaming prowess.

According to the company, the software of the phone has also been optimized for a superior and uninterrupted gaming experience. Another feature that adds to the appeal of gamers is the advanced cooling technology that the phone uses to keep it cool during long, intense gaming sessions. Even the back of the phone has an angular, stand out design to make it look like a gaming specific phone.

This smartphone is Nubia's first gaming entry into the Indian market. In the past, Nubia has released phones but have received a lukewarm response from the audience. With the Red Magic, they aim to target a specific, more niche audience looking for high-performance gaming.

Apart from the gamer-y aspects, the phone has a (claimed) rugged build, a 3,800mAH battery and a Dinorex T2X-1 glass, which the company says is better than a Gorilla Glass. The phone has a single camera set up at the back with a 24-megapixel sensor and a wide f/1.7 aperture. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel f/2.0 aperture wide angle camera. On the software front, the phone sports an Android 8.1 Oreo-based skin developed by Nubia, which has also been optimized to serve intense gaming needs.

The phone will launch on 20th December and we are eager to see how it will fare against other gaming-centric smartphones such as the Asus ROG Phone and Razer phone 2.
