This special edition OnePlus 6 continues the legacy set by yesteryear's OnePlus 5T Lava Red. Apart from that, the new phone might not have the same extreme name, the spiritual successor to last year's limited release which required a bit of an engineering prowess for OnePlus to deliver. OnePlus 6 Red has come with an additional "layer of brightening film" to bring out that bright red lustre. OnePlus claims the effect costs an extra $5, roughly ₹350 per phone.
The red layer on the OnePlus 6 is tied with a new film coating process which results in an elegant amber-like red color and speaks volume about its premium quality.
To recap, the OnePlus 6 runs on the Android version 8.1 Oreo out of the box topped with OxygenOS 5.1 on top and is upgradable to Android P. It features a 6.28-inch full-HD+ (2280x1080 pixels) Full Optic AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by an additional layer of Corning's Gorilla Glass 5.
OnePlus 6 is powered and supported by top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and Adreno 630 GPU.
Coming to the optics department, the smartphone has a dual camera setup which comprises of a primary 16-megapixel camera supported by Sony IMX519 sensor with f/1.7 aperture and secondary 20-megapixel snapper with Sony IM376K sensor. The front of the smartphone houses a 16-megapixel selfie camera supported by Sony IMX371 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture.
OnePlus 6 Red will be available with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage from July 16 in India. It is priced at ₹39,999 which is same as the price of current Mirror Black, Silk White and Midnight Black color variants of equivalent specification. The OnePlus Bullets Wireless headphones will also return to sale on July 16, so you can easily pick both up at the same time, in case you were eyeing each.
