Xiaomi India has confirmed that it will be launching the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in India in the coming six weeks. The confirmation reveals that the Redmi K20 Pro will not be launched as the Poco F2.
Initially, the Redmi K20 Pro was expected to be launched as the Poco F2 in India and Mi 9/9T outside India. However, Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain has confirmed that both the smartphones will be launched under their original names in India.
Xiaomi's confirmation also shows that the company is taking on the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The ad banners posted by Xiaomi are placed next to the OnePlus 7 Pro banners across Haryana, Maharashtra and more.
To recap, the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro were launched in China last month. Featuring 6.39-inch Full HD+ notchless AMOLED displays, both the smartphones also include seventh generation in-display fingerprint sensor and a pop-up selfie camera.
More specifically, the Redmi K20 is powered by the Snapdragon 730 chipset while the Redmi K20 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset. They also have up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
In terms of imaging, the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro feature a 48 + 13 + 8MP camera setup. The 48MP camera in the Redmi K20 has Sony IMX 582 sensor while the K20 Pro has a Sony IMX 586 sensor. On the front, both the phones have a 20MP selfie camera in the pop-up module.
Apart from that, both the smartphones support dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C port. They are both powered by 4,000mAh battery and support up to 27W fast charging.
Xiaomi says that the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro will be launched within the next six weeks in India. It will be interesting to see how the company prices these two smartphones.
