Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is set to launch a new smartphone in China- the Redmi K20 on May 28. Though it has not been confirmed, it is assumed that the phone could launch in India in the next couple of months as the Xiaomi POCO F2. The POCO F1 made a few headlines when it came out last year and this smartphone could continue the trend of powerful phones that come at a relatively cheap price tag.
As for the K20's specifications, they seem rather promising on paper and going by that, the phone should be a great performer that can give flagship phones a run for their money. Though there is no confirmation yet, the display on the K20 could be a massive 6.3-inch notch display or bezel less display. Additionally, the company could also opt for the pop up selfie camera, which seems to be a growing trend. At any rate, the company seems to be pushing the boundaries and giving people what they want.
Under the hood too, the phone has a set of promising features. It comes with a Snapdragon 855 paired with at least 6GB of RAM. Authorities from the company have already confirmed that the K20 will be the cheapest phone running on a Snapdragon 855 chipset. Additionally, it is also assumed that Redmi will launch two variants of the K20- the K20 and the K20 Pro. Of the two phones, the Pro variant is expected to debut in India as the POCO F2.
A feature that has been confirmed by the company is that the phone will indeed come with a 48-megapixel primary camera at the back. When the phone does actually go on sale, it will be the third phone by the company that sports the powerful 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary camera sensor. The handset is likely to have a triple camera setup at the back and a pop-up selfie camera, which makes it all the more futureproof. As of now, no other camera information has been leaked or revealed by the company.
When it comes to software and battery, we can assume that it will come with Android 9.0 Pie and at least 3,500mAH of battery. Since the POCO F1 has a battery capacity of 4,000mAH, we can speculate that this one will have either more capacity or something close enough.
At any rate, it is great to see cheap smartphones become better and for performance users like the youth today, the K20 is the perfect phone.
