Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung, today started teasing the launch of a new device in its Galaxy series on October 11. The teaser combined with earlier leaks hints that the phone will feature four cameras at the back and will be dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Pro.
In its teaser, Samsung mentions, "4X Fun - A Galaxy Event". It is scheduled for October 11 but does not mention the location of the launch. It is not clear if it will be launched in a particular country or this will be the global launch of the device. Huawei had launched the P20 Pro with a triple rear camera setup and Samsung may take the game forward with an additional rear camera.
Earlier this month, Ice Universe, a tipster had posted on Twitter, "Samsung Camera Camera Camera Camera."and it was expected that Samsung may launch a device with dual cameras at the front as well as back, however, a day later he mentioned that the four cameras will be placed at the back, "all back.". Today, after Samsung posted the teaser, Ice Universe posted another tweet revealing that 4X fun is hinting at four rear cameras.
Another Twitter user, @MMDDJ had also posted a tweet that mentioned a Galaxy device with four cameras. In its tweet, he said, "4 Cameras on new Galaxy.", followed by another tweet that confirmed that the device will be named as Galaxy A9 Star Pro.
Samsung is not the only company that is looking to increase the number of cameras on its devices. The LG V40 ThinQ, that is expected to be launched on October 3 will have a total of 5 cameras, 3 at the back and two at the front. HMD Global's rumored flagship, the Nokia 9 is reported to feature a five-camera setup at the back.
These are initial rumors and there has been no confirmation from Samsung regarding the name or four camera setup at the back.
