With the Galaxy A series and the M series, Samsung has picked up where it left off in the the budget smartphone range. The phones are powerful and better yet, cheap and there's no denying that cheap phones now are getting really good. As of now, Xiaomi is the long reigning king in this segment but Samsung is giving them a run for their money. The upcoming M40 could just be what the company needs to put itself a notch above other smartphone makers today.
The first thing that we know from recent leaks is Samsung will likely launch the much-awaited Galaxy M40 smartphone early next month for almost ₹25,000 in India. Other details that we know so far are that the phone will come featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a triple camera system. The Galaxy M40 will be India-first smartphone in the popular Galaxy M series and it is set to be the most powerful offering in the series, industry sources said on Monday
The first three Galaxy M smartphones - Galaxy M10, M20 and M30 are powered by Exynos processors, while this one will make use of the mainstream Snapdragon processor. As of now, there seems to be no details on which chipset this one will actually be. There is no word on the camera details either.
Samsung is also likely to introduce some flagship features on Galaxy M40, starting with the punch hole display. Though this technology currently reserved for the flagships, it is seen to be gaining popularity in other smartphone segments as well. The #OMG campaign that Samsung has launched is linked to the upcoming release of the Galaxy M40, the sources said.
Samsung India launched Galaxy M30 in two storage variants in February, starting at Rs 14,990. M30's 6GB+128GB variant was priced at Rs 17,990 and the 4GB+64GB variant was available for Rs 14,990. In January, Samsung launched the Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones and since then, they have gained lost footing in the Indian market.
