Earlier this month, Samsung had showcased its foldable phone during its Developer Conference along with its new Infinity displays. During the preview, the company had revealed some details about the display and the device's UI.
Now, a report by the Yonhap News Agency from South Korea has revealed the name, release date and the expected price of the device. As per the report, the device will be dubbed as the Galaxy F, a name that was suggested earlier too.
The Samsung Galaxy F is expected to be launched a little after the company's mainstream Galaxy S flagship series. The foldable phone is expected to be showcased once again during the Mobile World Congress 2019 in February and an official launch is expected in March.
The report has also suggested that the Samsung Galaxy F may be priced around $1,770 (Rs 1,29,100 approx.), making it the costliest phone from the company.
While the report also suggests that the price has not been finalized yet, it is likely to be priced around this price point due to it being the first device to use this technology. The sales may be limited to early adopters who do not have an issue with the premium cost of the device. Samsung Electronics President DJ Koh believes that the company will ship 1 million units of the Galaxy F in 2019.
The Samsung Galaxy F will feature the company's recently announced Infinity Flex display. The device features a 4.6-inch outer display with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a resolution of 840 x 1960 pixels. The 7.3-inch inner display will have a resolution of 1536 x 2152 pixels with 4.2:3 aspect ratio.
Apart from this, not much is known about the device as the company has not revealed any other information.
Samsung is expected to announce a special 5G version of the Galaxy S10 in March and the foldable Galaxy F is expected to be 4G only.
