Xiaomi finally took the wraps off its latest affordable devices in India with the launch of the Redmi Y3 and the Redmi 7. Powered by the Snapdragon 632 chipset and featuring a revamped design, both these devices are available under Rs 10,000.
Apart from these two Redmi smartphones, Xiaomi also unveiled its latest smart home accessory, the Mi LED Smart Bulb.
Starting off with the highlight of the launch event, the Redmi Y3 is Xiaomi's latest smartphone aimed at the selfie enthusiasts and the youth. It sports a 32MP camera on the front, making it the cheapest device to feature such a high resolution selfie camera.
The Redmi Y3 sports a 6.26-inch HD+ resolution display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. It comes with a gradient back design - Xiaomi is branding it as the Aura Prism design.
The Redmi Y3 is powered by the Snapdragon 632 chipset, which is paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is support for a dedicated microSD card up to 512GB. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top.
In terms of imaging, the selfie camera is the highlight of the Redmi Y3. It has a 32MP camera on the front with features like EIS, auto HDR and AI Scene and portrait detection. On the back, the Redmi Y3 has a 12MP + 2MP camera with support for PDAF, EIS and other AI features.
Other features of the Redmi Y3 include a fingerprint sensor, Dual SIM, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 3.5mm jack. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.
The Redmi Y3 is priced at Rs 9,999 for the 3GB + 32GB variant and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant. It comes in three colour options and will go on sale from April 30th on Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home stores.
ApartThe Redmi 7 shares most of the specifications with the Redmi Y3. The only major changes are the selfie camera and the storage options.
Just like the Redmi Y3, the Redmi 7 also has a 6.26-inch HD+ display, Gorilla Glass 5 and a smoked back design. It is also powered by the same Snapdragon 632 chipset which is paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage.
In terms of imaging, the Redmi 7 has an 8MP camera on the front. On the back, it has the same 12MP + 2MP setup as the Redmi Y3.
Other features of the Redmi 7 remain the same as those of the Redmi Y3.
The Redmi 7 is priced at Rs 7,999 for the 2GB variant and Rs 8,999 for the 3GB variant. It will go on sale from April 29th on Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home stores.
Apart from these two smartphones, Xiaomi announced the Mi LED Smart Bulb as well. It is an internet-powered smart device that connects with the Mi Home app and supports Google Assistant as well as Alexa. You can automate things like turning the bulb on and off, or setting the colour temperate depending on your mood and so on.
The Mi LED Smart Bulb price in India has not been announced yet. It will be available for purchase on Mi.com via the company's crowdfunding platform from April 26th.
