At the Mi A2 launch in Spain, Xiaomi had announced that its second-generation Android One smartphone will debut in India on August 8 and now, the company has announced that it will be launched as an Amazon India exclusive. The Mi A2 is the successor of the Mi A1, the company's first smartphone without MIUI.

At the event in Spain, Xiaomi had also announced the Mi A2 Lite but the device may never make it to India. While the Mi A2 is the global variant of the Mi 6X, the Mi A2 Lite is the global variant of the Redmi 6 Pro. The India launch was revealed by Manu Kumar Jain on Twitter.

The Mi A2 may not be as popular as the Mi A1 in India as the device is expected to be priced higher than its predecessor. In Spain, the device was launched with a price tag of 249 Euros (Rs. 20,020 approx.), which is considerably higher than the launch price of Mi A1 that was launched at Rs. 14,999. In addition to the price, the Mi A2 also lacks a 3.5mm audio jack and this may discourage many people from buying it. However, if Xiaomi is able to price the phone right, it may have another winner in its hand.
