Xiaomi Redmi 6A receives a price cut of ₹600 in India

Just last month, Xiaomi had increased the prices of several devices, including the budget Redmi 6A in India citing the depreciation of Rupee against the Dollar. Now, the company has cut the price of the device back to its launch price.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A was launched with a price tag of ₹5,999 for the 16GB storage variant and ₹6,999 for the 32GB variant. Last month, the company increased the prices of the 16GB and 32GB storage variants by ₹600 and ₹500 respectively.

Now, the company has announced that starting today, December 13, the Xiaomi Redmi 6A will be available at ₹5,999 for the 16GB storage variant and ₹6,999 for the 32GB variant.

Along with the Redmi 6A, the company had also increased the prices of the Xiaomi Redmi 6, Mi LED TV 4C Pro 32-inch, Mi LED TV 4A Pro 49-inch and the 10,000mAh Power Bank 2i. Xiaomi had claimed that since the beginning of the year, the value of Rupee against the Dollar has depreciated by 15%, resulting in increased costs for the company.

To recall, the Xiaomi Redmi 6A runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with the company's MIUI 10 skin on top. It features a 5.45-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi Redmi 6A is powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 coupled with with IMG PowerVR GE-class GPU. In terms of memory, the device is available in two variants - 2GB RAM + 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM + 32GB internal storage.

Coming to the camera department, the Xiaomi Redmi 6A features a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, EIS, phase detection autofocus and an LED flash. On the front, the device sports a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options on the device include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and a micro USB port.
