Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has teased the launch of a new 48MP camera phone in India. Xiaomi's latest teaser about this 48MP camera phone comes after the company revealed that it has sold over 2 million units in the Redmi Note 7 series.
Xiaomi's upcoming 48MP camera phone could likely be the Mi A3. Xiaomi had teased the launch of a phone with a triple camera setup earlier last week. While the Mi A1 and the Mi A2 launched with single and dual camera setups, the Mi A3 could be the one to launch with a triple camera setup.
Lending further credence to this theory is that Xiaomi is gearing up to launch two new Android One smartphones as part of its Mi A-series. These two smartphones could be powered by Snapdragon 700-series chipsets. While some reports have suggested that it could be the Snapdragon 710 or 712, other reports suggest that Xiaomi could opt for the Snapdragon 730 or 730G. It is not yet clear as to what Xiaomi will eventually go with, though.
Xiaomi also announced that it has sold over 2 million units of the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The two smartphones were launched earlier this year, starting at a price of Rs 9,999. Xiaomi's move to launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro with a 48MP camera may have proved to be a major factor in pushing its sales and the company seems to be focused on further capitalizing on this 48MP camera trend.
To recap briefly, the Redmi Note 7 features a 6.3-inch display, Snapdragon 660, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 12MP + 2MP camera setup. The Redmi Note 7 starts at a price of Rs 9,999.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro, on the other hand, features a 6.3-inch display, Snapdragon 675, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 48MP + 5MP camera setup. It starts at a price of Rs 13,999.
