Nokia recently launched its Nokia X7 mobile phone in China a few months back. Now, the global variant has been spotted under the name Nokia 8.1. This is likely to be a successor to the Google Android One program based Nokia 7 Plus. Expected to launch on November 28, it will be priced at ₹23,999.
According to a report by 91Mobiles, Nokia will be bringing the 8.1 to India very soon. Nokia has seen some success with its devices in India after the high demand of the 7 Plus, 6.1 Plus and other Android One based devices. Another advantage that Nokia claims to have over its competitors is that they already have a few phones supporting the latest Android 9.0.
The HMD Global device will be hitting the stores in India on 28th November and will be priced less than its predecessor, the Nokia 7 Plus. The Nokia 8.1 will be priced at ₹23,999 as opposed to the Nokia 7 Plus, which was priced at ₹26,999 at its launch.
Getting to the specifications of the 8.1, if it is the Nokia X7 from the Chinese market, it will pack a 6GB RAM to support the well performing Snapdragon 710. It has a notch display, and the screen is an FHD+ 6.18-inch display. The device sports a glass back for a more premium look, though it is unsure how sturdy the glass is. For security purposes, there is a fingerprint reader at the back, where it belongs. The rear cameras are also a dual camera set up, with a 13MP primary sensor and a 12MP secondary sensor. On the front, the camera is a powerful 20MP camera for those better-looking selfies.
It even packs in a 3,500 MAh battery which supports fast charging via a USB C type port. Another welcome feature is the addition of the 3.5mm jack, which is a rare sight these days. The Nokia 8.1 will run on Google's Android One programme which makes the device eligible for regular updates in the future.
