OPPO's spin-off brand, Realme, has seen a consistent expansion of its user base in the past year. The company has grown and now, is competing with the likes of Xiaomi and Vivo budget phones. With the competition in mind, they are gearing up for the launch of their new smartphone. The Realme 3, their first phone for 2019 has been teased by the company suggesting that a launch is imminent.
A teaser by the company was uploaded on their official Twitter page with the caption 'do the math' by adding the Realme 1 and Realme 2. Possibly, this could mean that they are aiming to take the best out of the two phones and present it in their upcoming Realme 3. Additionally, the company had also stated that they would launch their first smartphone for the year 2019 in Q1 and it seems they are delivering.
Several speculations about the phone that had been making the rounds suggested that the Realme 3 would come equipped with a 48-megapixel camera. However, in a recent AMA (ask me anything) video with the company's CEO, Madhav Sheth, he confirmed that the phone would not have such a camera.
Apart from that, not much about the phone is known. However, the new phone could see a major change in the design language and the hardware as compared to what we have seen from the Realme 2. Since the company recently partnered with Reliance stores across the country, it can be assumed that the phone will be available offline as well as online. With this, the company aims to expand its offline presence to smaller markets.
Readers must note that this is not the first time the phone has been teased. Only a few days back, the company CEO was spotted in a leaked teaser video dancing to a Gully Boy-like Hip-Hop song where the words 'Realme 3' can be heard. The company launched its debut phone in India and since then, has expanded to other markets as well. With this in mind, the Realme 3 will first hit the store shelves in India.
There is no fixed launch date of the phone yet, but it is speculated that it will launch in the first week of March. There is no word on pricing of the phone either, but judging by their previous smartphones, it should be available at a sub ₹20,000 price.
