Samsung launches Galaxy A20 in India: Price, specifications and more

Over the past month, Samsung seems to be aiming to regain their lost ground in the mid-tier smartphone range, where the current king is Xiaomi and their Redmi phones. The Samsung Galaxy A series was launched in India a few months back with 3 phones in the family. Now, the company is expanding the lineup with the newest Galaxy A20.

The Galaxy A20 will be placed between the A10 and the A30, both in terms of specifications and price. Right off the bat, the A20 has an infinity-V display, which is a form of the waterdrop notch that is becoming widely prevalent of late. The display on the phone is a 6.4-inch SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1560 pixels, which is surprising considering the price of the smartphone.

Under the hood, the phone has some great specs that will allow it to compete with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi phones and Realme's new phones. The phone runs on an Exynos 7884 octa-core processor```. The variant of the phone will have 3GB RAM paired with 32GB internal storage, to ensure that the phone performs well in day to day tasks. Also, the company has said that the processor of the phone comes with advanced AI capabilities that help with faster processing speeds.

On to the cameras of the phone, it comes with a dual camera setup that seems to be the norm these days. The primary shooter at the back of the phone is a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 lens, while the secondary lens is a 5-megapixel with an f/2.2 lens. Up front and in the notch of the phone, the camera is an 8-megapixel sensor paired with f/2.0 aperture. As of now, no camera samples have been revealed so it is hard to say where the phone stands in terms of image quality and processing.

Though the phone is rather budget friendly, it still comes with Android 9.0 running out of the box. Apart from that, Samsung's latest OneUI skin has been applied on top, which is rather user friendly and a departure from the buggy interface of the older Samsung phones. The phone is kept running for long periods of time by a 4,000mAH battery.

The Samsung Galaxy A20 joins the family along with phones such as the A10, A30 and the A50. These phones are targeted at the young Indian smartphone user and the A20 makes the lineup more accessible to potential buyers. The phone is priced at ₹12,490 and will go on sale from April 10.
