Phones these days are competing neck and neck amongst which phone has the best specifications. Constantly upping the game, one company is out the get the other and that just means that there are better phones out there in the market for us, the buyer. The latest entry into that world is the Asus ROG Phone 2, which will go on sale in India on 30th September.
If you have seen the first Asus ROG phone, then this shouldn't come as a surprise to you. The back of the phone remains largely the same, save for some new copper cut outs for air flow. At the back one thing that is missing is the capacitive fingerprint sensor.
Up front, things remain pretty much the same as the predecessor. The display on the phone is the first thing that will strike you. With a 120Hz refresh rate display, this phone is giving tough competition. The screen itself is a 6.59-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, which should make for a really great viewing experience.
On paper, this is the ultimate smartphone. With up to 12GB of RAM, paired with either 256GB or 512GB internal storage, you're never going to run out of space, and the phone won't stutter due to an overload of apps either. Along with the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, gaming on the phone will surpass your expectations.
In fact, the storage is all UFS 3.0, which makes app loading, installing and other such activities a breeze. This is one area where the ROG Phone 2 takes the competition head on.
Though not a camera centric smartphone, the Asus ROG 2 packs a punch in the camera department. With a 48-megapixel sensor and a 13-megapixel that can capture added details. Though the final prowess of the cameras can only be determined by the samples, cameras seem good on paper. Up front, the phone has a 24-megapixel selfie camera, positioned below the top speaker.
Like almost all other phones that come out in 2019, the Asus ROG Phone runs on Android 9.0 Pie and is expected to update to Android 10 when it comes out soon.
When it comes to the battery, the phone absolutely crushes the competition. With a 6,000mAH battery, it is probably the largest on any commercial smartphone.
The Asus ROG Phone 2 is expected to launch in India on September 30 at a price of ₹37,999, which is less than the OnePlus 7 Pro. The previous phone of the series was priced at a very high range and was unable to perform. The aggressive price this time could just be what the company needs to gain a foothold of the Indian market.
