Xiaomi, one of the top players in the budget and mid range smartphones, will launch their latest flagship phone, the Mi 9 on February 20. The phone will first launch in China. On the same day, Samsung will launch their highly anticipated Galaxy S10 lineup globally. In the past few weeks, the smartphone received certifications from different sources, which meant that a launch would be imminent and the date has recently been confirmed by Xiaomi.
On February 20, the Mi 9 will be launched in China, following which, it will launch globally in a couple of months. According to teasers and posters by the company, the phone will be their most powerful yet and will also be their best looking phone. Though there have been no official render reveals, leaks suggest the same.
Leaked specifications of the phone suggest that the phone will have a 6.4-inch display along with a waterdrop notch. Additionally, the phone will have an in-display fingerprint scanner, something that is catching up fast in 2019. As for the processor, the phone will come with a Snapdragon 855, so that it can support 5G technology and keep up to date with the latest developments. Additionally, the phone will come with 6GB of RAM.
As for the cameras, the phone will have a triple camera set up at the back, a first for the company. The phone will come equipped with a primary 48-megapixel sensor and a secondary 12-megapixel sensor. The third camera will be a 3D time of flight camera which helps in better depth sensing. According to other leaks and reports, the phone will have an average sized 3,500mAH battery supporting fast charging technology. The phone will run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with an MiUI 10 skin on top.
Xiaomi is not the only company gearing up to launch a new phone on February 20. The competitor, Samsung is also gearing up for a massive reveal with their launch of the S10 lineup. Along with the S10, they could also launch the futuristic foldable smartphone that has been gaining a lot of traction over the past few months.
