Xiaomi Redmi Y3 is all set to launch in India on April 24th, a new tweet by Xiaomi has confirmed. The Redmi Y3's primary selling point will be its imaging experience, as has been the case with previous Redmi Y series smartphones so far.
Xiaomi has been teasing the launch of the Redmi Y3 for a few days now. The new smartphone will be another budget offering from the company. In addition to teasers and leaks, the Redmi Y3 has also been confirmed by the Redmi GM, Liu Weibing.
In a previous statement, Weibing had confirmed that the Xiaomi sub-brand is working on a new smartphone with a 32MP front facing camera. It was more or less understood at the time that Weibing was referring to the Redmi Y3.
The presence of a 32MP front facing camera has now been confirmed by Xiaomi India. In a tweet, the company teased the Redmi Y3 with the hashtag #32MPSuperSelfie.
When the Redmi Y series was launched, Xiaomi had aimed it at those users who are more interested in the imaging experience - specifically, the Redmi Y series offered a better selfie camera experience. The Redmi Y2, for instance, featured a 16MP front camera when it was still rare to find in other Redmi smartphones.
In addition to the 32MP front camera, the Redmi Y3 is also expected to feature a dual camera setup on the back. Some reports suggest that it could be powered by the Snapdragon 632 chipset and possibly a 4,000mAh battery. At this point, though, this is speculation so take this with a pinch of salt.
Other features of the Redmi Y2 will include water repellant P2i nano coating, dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and a waterdrop notch. It is scheduled to launch on April 24th, possibly as an Amazon-exclusive device.
